Veteran Resources in Florida

Last updated September 25, 2026

Florida is home to one of the largest veteran populations in the country, with more than 1.5 million veterans living across the state. Whether you served recently or decades ago, a wide range of federal and state programs exist to support your health, housing, finances, and well-being — many of which are underused simply because veterans don't know they qualify.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is the primary gateway to most federal veteran benefits, including healthcare, disability compensation, education assistance, and home loan guarantees. Florida also operates its own veterans' services through the Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs (FDVA), which has offices across the state and offers free claims assistance at no cost to you. If you're unsure where to start, calling 2-1-1 Florida connects you to a trained specialist who can identify local programs for housing, food, mental health, and more.

Veterans in crisis — including those experiencing thoughts of suicide — can call or text 988 and then press 1 to reach the Veterans Crisis Line, available 24 hours a day. You are not alone, and help is available right now.
